from (30) to (45) minutes - depending on the age group. The presentation
consists of the following:
1.) Author/Illustrator backgrounds
2.) Emphasize the importance of creativity, imagination and pretending, as well
working hard to be the best you can be. Examples of family success, role
modeling, and "not giving up on oneself".
3.) Illustrations of various works — original artworks/sketches.
4.) "Honorary Author" - student interaction with drawing demonstration to create
character & scene in illustration.
5.) Explain "How a Story becomes a Book..."
6.) Conduct a reading of our book.
7.) Question/Answer Session.
Primary Type of Writing and/or Illustration You Have Done: Picture books
Honorarium: $500-$700/day (depending on travel/lodging) — And, minimum of
(50) books to be sold with school's assistance via students, teachers, staff,
parents.
Number of Sessions: (3) sessions in one visit (K-2nd; 3/4th; 5/6th grade - preferably).
Size of Audience Preferred: No limit; Large assemblies "OK" given there is accommodations for students.
Equipment Needed: Projector (to hookup laptop), large screen, microphone,
table and chair for drawing demonstration.
Books Written and/or Illustrated: The Young Knight and The Golden Sword (November
2011), There's An Elephant In My Bathtub (October 2010), Carrousel De Fantasia
(October 2000).
